Academic Policies

Background

ITS College of Health and Wellness Sciences in Greater Noida was established in 2021 with the idea of creating skilled professionals in the health care sector. The institute is affiliated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow and UP State Medical Faculty.

Department of Physiotherapy offers one programme, BPT, which is a 4-year undergraduate programme that deals with the science of physical movement. The course also highlights the importance of six months of mandatory clinical internship.

As per the World Health Organization, rehabilitation is included as a part of comprehensive health service delivery model. A large number of patient populations affected with disorders of joints, muscles, bones, brain, nerves and certain cardiopulmonary conditions essentially require long-term physiotherapy support.

The aim of this programme is to create quality human resources in this field of health care so that we can meet the growing needs of our society with increased life expectancy of individuals. Physiotherapy adds quality to the lives of subjects which, in today's scenario, can be of any age frame.

The Institute has prepared certain academic policies for running these courses in the field of Physiotherapy, which are as below.

Academic Policies

1. Admission Policy

Programme: Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)
  1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
  2. Minimum education: 10+2 class passed with Science (PCB) & English Core/English Elective with aggregate of 50% marks from a recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board for General category candidates and 45% for Reserved category.
  3. Students shall be medically fit.
  4. Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by the National Institute of Open School with 50% marks are eligible.
  5. Students shall be admitted twice in a year.

2. Policy Regarding Attendance

  1. The students are required to maintain 75% attendance in theory and mandatory 100% attendance in clinical areas at the end of the term of each year and semester.
  2. Failure to maintain the required attendance can result in students being barred from final examinations.
  3. Candidates having 75% or more attendance will only be allowed for clinical training.

3. Uniform Policy

  1. Candidates must come to college in the proper college uniform assigned for the Summer and Winter seasons.
  2. Candidates are given white coats to be worn mandatorily for practical classes and training.
  3. Female candidates must keep their hair neatly tied and male candidates must be clean-shaven.
  4. Black shoes and black/white socks are a part of their uniform.
  5. For Yoga and certain practical classes, students can wear comfortable lowers and T-shirts.

4. Disciplinary Policy

  1. The college timings are from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Candidates are required to reach college by 8:45 AM positively.
  2. Candidates must pay the fees on time, otherwise the administration has the right to charge a fine for the delay.
  3. Candidates are not allowed to violate any rules and regulations set by the administration.
  4. Candidates should not harm any college property or be involved in any illegal action.
  5. Ragging is strictly prohibited on the campus.
Important: The administration has the right to take strict action against violation of any of the above pointers.

5. Examination Policy

  1. Candidate must pass separately in internal and external examinations.
  2. At least 50% of the medical subjects like Anatomy & Physiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Psychology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Genetics, Nutrition, Sociology, English and Computer Science should be taught by qualified faculty. The college will have medical practitioners as guest lecturers for the rest of the medical subjects. Teachers who are involved in teaching non-nursing subjects can be the examiners for the programme.
  3. Teaching shall be done by the Physiotherapy faculty and will be supplemented by guest faculty who are doctors or have postgraduate qualifications in the requisite subject.
  4. The maximum number of candidates for the practical examination should not exceed 25 per day.
  5. All practical examinations must be held in the respective clinical areas.
  6. One internal and one external examiner should jointly conduct the practical examination for each student.
  7. An examiner should be an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor or above in a college of Physiotherapy with an M.P.T. degree in the concerned subject and a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
  8. The maximum duration for completing the course will be 9 years from the date of joining the course.
  9. A student will be allowed to keep the term of Semester 2 irrespective of the number of heads of failure in Semester 1.
  10. A student will be allowed to keep the term of Semester 3 if he/she passes each of Semesters 1 and 2 or fails in not more than two subjects each in Semesters 1 and 2.
  11. Students will be allowed to keep the term of Semester 4 irrespective of the number of heads of failure in Semester 3; however, the student must clear all subjects in Semesters 1 and 2.
  12. A student will be allowed to keep the term of Semester 5 if he or she has cleared all subjects of Semesters 1, 2 and 3 and should have not more than two failures in Semester 4.
  13. A student will be allowed to keep the term of Semester 6 irrespective of the number of failures in Semester 5; however, he or she should have cleared all subjects in Semesters 1, 2, 3 and 4.
  14. A student will be allowed to keep the term of Semester 7 if he has cleared all subjects in Semesters 1, 2, 3 and 4 and should have not more than two backlogs in Semesters 5 and 6.
  15. A student will not be allowed to keep the term of Semester 8 if he or she has not cleared all the previous semesters.
  16. Maximum 5 grace marks in any one subject will be allowed for passing. However, no grace marks are allowed in internal examinations.
  17. Grace marks are given only to those students who have appeared in all examinations.
  18. BPT students should submit a suitable research project in the last semester as forwarded by the guide. It should be submitted at least 20 days before the university examination.
  19. Students must mandatorily undergo 6 months of compulsory rotatory internship in a minimum 100-bedded hospital. The ratio of patients to interns should be 5:1.
